Soft Leather poorly designed Buckle setup

I bought these thinking the buckle could be used to tighten or loosen using the buckle and fastener but it is a Velcro fastener which rubs on the skin if loosened, a very poor design. I ended up returning the shoes for a refund. The refund process was easy thanks Midas, put would have been better with the traditional buckle setup.
