Love the boots - hate the laces

Why oh why D&J would you use these type of laces in these boots? I just received these and while I love the boots, so soft and gorgeous colour, I do not like these new fixed elastic laces! They're way too loose and I've spent an hour trying to tighten the things. I'm going to head into Mathers next week and see if they can help otherwise they're going back sadly..
