Not as soft as the similar style sandal shoe

I bought these in early October and whilst they are comfortable to wear in the feeling of the insoles, the top strap leather is so hard that it has made huge blisters on my upper foot after just one wear, despite loosening the straps. I gave them a rest and tried again yesterday to wear them, with using thick fabric bandaids to protect my feet, but they just started rubbing in a different place below the bandaids! A bit disappointing because I had already bought the same style in the sandal with the ankle strap and these were fine, much softer leather and didn't rub at all. For $200 I was hoping/expecting better and now I don't know what to do with these shoes as they just can't be trusted not to destroy my feet. The original blisters were so bad they have left scars on top of my foot which I'm having to use Bio Oil to try and fade. A real bummer for me because I love the shoe and wanted to make them a summer staple to replace wearing Birkenstocks.
