Style too loose - feels insecure

The fit is not for me. I own arizonas and gizeh styles but this style is just too loose, yes even on a tightened strap I have a wide foot and even in the size below my usual it feels like I am shuffling in slippers. I don't love feeting like I have yo grip with my roes to keep the shoe on. Wouldn't be able to manage a light jog (say rushing to cross the road - obv not expecting to go for a run in these) in this shoe. I wanted to like them, but alas they're not for me. Stylistically though the Tobacco brown colour is lovely and I always love Birk's oiled leather shoes.
