Three Ways You Should Never Wear Your Winter Boots

Okay, so we’re never opposed to a good dose of healthy bravery when it comes to experimenting with shoe fashion, but we have to share three ways we think you should never wear your winter boots. Any other time of year, feel free to go crazy with your boots! But during winter, so many other factors come into play that easily affect the look of your ensemble, mostly due to the weather and the attire that accompanies it.

With all of the flashy boot styles that are celebrated during the winter season, there are plenty of ways to do those styles wrong by wearing them in ways that just aren’t flattering. No matter how saucy of a fashionista you may be, strutting those fun boot styles just works better when it’s done a certain way. No, this doesn’t mean you have to stifle fun fashion with daft do’s and don’ts, but it does mean that your height, shape, and personal style impacts the look of your boots.

With Bare Legs-- Don’t get us wrong, bare legs with boots can be super sexy, but in the wintertime, it just looks strange. This is especially the case with short ankle booties. Plus, it can’t be very comfortable with the cold weather! Stick to some chic tights or a pair of legging or skinny jeans.

With Mismatched Leggings or Tights-- Wearing any kind of winter boot with tights or leggings that are drastically different in colour or completely mismatched can look really tacky. Avoid this faux pas by wearing your boots with a legging or tight that is in the same colour family as the boot style.

With Capris or Cutoffs-- Although capris and cutoffs are primarily summertime wardrobe choices, many women try to wear them on brisk fall or chilly winter days, thinking they can still get some use out of them. Nothing ruins the look of a sizzling winter boot more than a pair of capris or cutoffs. Whether you’re tall, short, slim, or round, avoid this look like the plague! It will only throw off your proportion and make you look shorter.
