How to Dress Up Your Men’s Sneakers

You’ve probably asked this question many times before: “How can I dress up my sneakers?” Contrary to what you may think, there are ways to dress up your men’s sneakers. This is especially true if you are sporting a casual, stylish sneaker.

Athletic shoes are much harder to dress up. When you wear athletic sneakers, you automatically look like you just went for a run or came from the gym. Depending on the look of the athletic shoe, though, there is still hope! But when it comes to dressing up your casual sneakers, you have plenty of options. All you have to do is get a little creative and think outside of the box.

Wear a jacket-- This might sound vague and pretty simple, but that’s because it is! Wearing a semi-casual jacket, such as a sports coat or stylish blazer, can make a big difference in your overall look. When you wear sneakers with jeans, corduroys, or coloured slacks, a simple black blazer or classic navy sports coat can polish off your look. Think this style is only for the young, hip crowd? Think again! This is a great way to look youthful and fresh, but sophisticated at the same time.

Wear a dark-coloured sneaker-- The colour of your sneakers makes a difference, too. If possible, opt for men’s sneakers with dark colours, like brown, navy, black, or grey. This can work for athletic sneakers, too. If you have a very dark athletic sneaker, it opens you up to more wardrobe options.

Wear a dark pant to complement the sneaker-- If you want to look sharp but casual, skip the jeans and instead wear a dark pant, like brown or black, or wear a darker shade in a corduroy pant. The key is to try to keep the shade of your pants similar to the tone of your casual sneakers.

Keep these basic tips in mind when trying to dress up your men’s sneakers.
